Post Registration temporary closed : problem with email
I'm sorry for new users but the registration to the forum is currently closed.

There is currently a lot of players who try to register with email address like player_name @ mail.ru and many confirmation emails can't be delivered.
I don't know if these players use false email address or if mail.ru servers have problems. But the result is that my server host has deactivated the email function of coopordie.com because more than 5% of email sent cause errors.

I'm searching an issue and will inform you here.

Post Re: Registration temporary closed : problem with email
Registration is now active.

In fact, most email's users were good. The web host of coopordie.com seem to have sometime difficulties with email servers of some countries. A small amount of email errors is not really abnormal. The problem comes from coopordie.com that doesn't send a lot of emails. They are only used by phpBB for registration confirmation. With 2 to 6 messages per day, if one email fails, the 5% limit is immediately reached!

I have solved the problem by adding a script that automatically send an email to myself. It's not an elegant solution, but it should work ;)

I'm sorry for this interruption of service, and I would like to thanks new players who have directly contacted me, making me realize that their emails address were true.

My trick for increasing the percentage of delivered emails does not seem to work. The email functionality was just deactivated again, and only for one email error :(

I have temporary turned registration to "by admin", so new players will have to wait until I activate their account myself.

In fact the forum is currently attacked by spam bots. They can't reach the board and post their crap, but now they try to register with fantasist email address. Latest fake registration contain references to all classic spams.

I should have started to read that: Preventing Spam in phpBB 3.0 [*Read First Post*]

I've just added a simple question to the registration process:
This website is about what version of Quake?:
Type the number if you are not a damn sp#m b@t.

Real users should know we are here about Quake 2 ;)

If it's not enough, I will add a phpBB antispam MOD, and then re-activate the automatic registration system.

Activation by automatic email confirmation is restored, the question described above seem to have stopped the spambots.
