If you are using a FireWall, a NAT (sometime your provider use this for cable connection) or AOL it's possible that other player can't see you, because request are rejected by your PC.

- For a firewall, disable it during play, or if you know how, authorize connections to Quake2 port (27910)
- For NAT, there is nothin to do, you can only play alone or join other players
- For AOL ... change for a "real" provider ;)

you could try calling your cable service provider. That's what I'm gonna do... After I get off my butt anyway.

I think I have NAT - would that prevent teleporters from even showing in the start map? I have the expat.dll in my quake2 folder.

By the way, in your zips, I think you should take off the \Quake2 part... The only way to do that on WinZip, that I know of, is to create new directories and copy stuff over. Just 'cause some people might have their directory named differently :)
