Post Ranking idea
Here's my idea, a ranking system based on kill count (points)

Just a little sign in the profile would show. It'd make the game more interesting yet if the skill mode limited the ranking. It would also stop people rushing the base levels :wink:

Pat doesnt seem to be willing to update the game anymore, however the WHOLE thing is an open source...

if you could come up with a solid add on, he could probably add it in no time..

adding points by kill count is a good idea, however solo play must have limited amount of points that can be gained (to prevent mass soloing and cheating)

and make the only way to gain "unlimited" source of points is in teams
also, kills should be shared, to prevent ks fights and arguements -.-''

The game keeps a count of points through the normal q2 coop game, and levels have a track of kills and kills remaining. But for this to work, we'd need to beat the game killing all monsters...

A question for Pat:

If the worldserver keeps the stats of health, items and ammo after each level, does it keep the info of the kills?

Every 30 sec the worldserver receive a "gameloop packet" with position and health of all the players. There is also a line for each killed monster (ki), a code "means of death" (4 is machinegun), the map name and the position.

I need everyones help on this! please! If you are playing one level, please write down the name of the level and press F1 and write down the maximum number of kills in the level. This way i will progress faster and i might be able to get the number of monsters per unit.

Unit 1:
Base1 = 29 kills

Unit 2:
Bunk1= 71

Unit 3:
Jail1= 41
Jail2= 51

This number is variable, the worldserver can add or remove monsters. Currently some monsters are added depending the number of the ingame players and with a little random.
I have some doubt about any score system improvement. Coop or die is easily cheat able (open-source + possibility to use any Q2 engine).

I'm only exerting a little control on challenge mode champions, and don't really want to go farther.

In standard Q2 you can press X to get your score, which is the kills number (on coop). It was removed in Coop or Die, as it seems. It would've been easier for this to have it, but, oh well... players can repeat levels and this number could be added or removed. XML rules will add/remove monsters and this is waaay to inexact to make a proper ranking system.
