how about an event (2)
No i was just thinking that theres been a topic of this thing before, but i thought there should really be some kind of event sometime in the future. There could be some kind of modifications in the maps or something, or maybe some new map.

Re: how bout an event (2)
Urg... I'd rather not post this... but.. Hell yeah I agree with anything you say MIk1.. wait.. no... As a matter of fact... You could get ya funny event sometime soon *glares at pat*. I guess I'd be fun for you to add a cool Mission pack with all the standart maps BUT doing a different timeline Like, only using .xml for it... That would be plain cool. Now.... ignoring what I just said... I think it could attrack people if we did that, and got some media attention.. This is, if there could be spectators on the games so someone could record that without having to be the ones playing. Just think is asking too much, however. Conclusion: Yes, I do think there shouuld be an event

Re: how about an event (2)
After the last 6 months dedicated to the first coopordie2 prototype, I will now take some time for Quake2. At first I will work on the new version. I plan to organize an event for the release. I will probably use some new features during the event. The worldserver will be informed in real time when a player reach a goal (already in SVN), I plan to use this for some funny things, with specifics goal created from xmlrules. And with this release we will probably have some news on planetquake, modDB, quakedev... So, a chance to get some fresh new players or recall some old friends

Pat: That would allow people to create milestones. Like doing something in less than XX seconds... Discovering/reaching diffycult places... god, possibilities are infinite.
Oh yeah. Have you read the pm's i send you related to some of the features?

Re: how about an event (2)
Well. That's true.
ehh, about the pms. I think, IIRC, that at least the way we join would have to be the way I described: when people connect, you check if challange is on, if that's true, then they don't join unless current map is startmap; else, they just join.
The resetting thing would be some-kind of at the call of the entities, this is, when entities are spawned, or something around that time, .dll checks which map we're in, and if startmap, resets everything back. Wasn't able to do it on my own, however. Think it was because I done that AFTEr entities were spawned and not before.
So I guess is just find the correct spot for all of those. Doesn't seem too complicated.
BUt... staying in topic.
The milestones could be finishing whole campaign with a team of 3 or 4 (or 2) in less than 30 minutes, or stuff like that. Also, you could put some sort of >10Hp and kills 10 monsters all together gets a milestone (that's risky :O) Or like multi-kill with grenades, like 7 with a hand grenade. You could search for ideas on Borderlands. BUt...
I think something more like a modified campaign (backwards campaign?) would be fun. With like lasers all around, (no damage) and funny stuff =) Things that actually make you laugh. Oh yeah, an sculpture of Solid Exploboxes =)
Iono, we'd have to think.
