Post my quake 2 mod
this my first quake 2 mod!

its name is The Challenge and it tells you everything. there are many changed things, such as:

-the monsters' health, damage and eventually attack speed are modified
-they are a bit smarter (in example, the tank uses the rocket launcher if you are close to it, and blaster if you are away from him)
-your starting health and maximum health are lowered!
-the armors' effects are better (in example, the body armor protects you from 90% of the bullet damage)
-and many more! (in example, the parasite drains your health like a vampir!)


if you'd like to play it, you must do the following steps:

1) get the mod from this link: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=TYORFX31
2) unarhive(unzip) it to your quake 2 folder
3) open quake 2, and write in console the following thing: set game thechallenge
4) start playing quake 2 as usually (open the main menu, new game, select a difficulty or load a game, etc..)


P.S.: i'm not sure if anybody will anytime finish quake 2 in this mod!

Any way to intergrate this with the CooPoD server? I was looking for a way to make challenge mode more....challenging. :D

yes, if pat would give me the coopordie's source code and let me combine my mod with his mod :mrgreen:

Merge the code if you want and create a custom DLL directly usable on coopordie.com with a betatester account.

Tip: compare the initial idsofware source-code with the latest coopordie version to highlight coopordie part of code added or modified. A 3 ways merge/compare tool can be useful.

wow.. this forum sure has been unactive.. i would still like to play COoD but it gets old fast. ive wanted to make some kind of mapserie that you really need to co operate but just doesnt work in q2.. ive made 1 map for coop and it turned out good... just that its hard if you dont get the idea.

i have worked on this mod some time, still a work in progress.

To-do list:

-Combine my mod with coopordie's mod. (100% done)
-Complete making the monsters better. (100% done)
-Modify the items (their duration,count, efficienty, but NOT the damage :twisted: (just if the items are not in some special effects) , etc..). (10% done)
-Eventually, add some special effects to the weapons. (0% done)
-More details!


If somebody wants to check it, give me a message and i'll host a server with this mod.


A question to Pat: when i check this mod, i have to use my betatest account, but do the players who want to join me have to use a betatest account?

No...

Has far has I know, only the player who host the game need a betatest account. If you have added maps, textures or any data, the other players need to install the adequate files on their PC. But they can continue to use the official coopordie DLL. The modified DLL is only needed by the player who host the game (server). The betatest account allows you to use a modified DLL with the coopordie worldserver.

Well, my mod is partially done. I still have to make some modifications to the weapons and items.

About the NUKE Rocket Launcher: it was too chaotic, so i replaced the BFGs with Rockets. Now, it should do a BFG explosion spawning 9 rockets.
