The goal of this thread is to create "item quest" with the standard Quake2 missions.

Example :
The Super Shotgun quest :
Map : Lost Station, secret map of the 1st mission
In this example, the item quest was created by ID software, because the goal of the last station was initially to found a powerful weapon : the super shotgun. If all Super Shotgun are removed on other maps like I plan to do, it will become the only place where you can found this item, it is what I call an item quest.

Now I want to create item quest with the principal powerful items of Quake2.

The rules for that are :
- items must be available respecting the initial ID progression, so in the same mission has it appear for the first time in the game.
- The quest could be hard to beat, but not too much hard to find
- The quest must be "logic", credible, and respect the storyline
- All possibility of XmlRules could be used (add/remove/modify monsters, messages, items, triggers, path ...)
- New maps or secret maps using DM maps could be added
- If existing item quest like the "Lost Station" allready exist for other objects, they must be preserved.
- An item can be dropped by a monster, boss ...

Sugestion of items for new quest :
* Power Shield
* Rocket Launcher
* HyperBlaster
* Railgun
* BFG10K

Like the inventory is erased after each death, and like all the 10 missions teleporters will be always available after the next release (except for challenge players), the game will turn to a rush against powerful items.

Like i'm not an expert of the quake2 maps (I don't know all of them), you can help me. I'm waiting for your propositions (item/maps/circonstances ...).

I´ve come up with the idea to make a quest for the map "Security grid".

I dont wanna throw out everything because it would ruin the surprise 8).

It's interesting, but maybe for additionnal quest.
I'm not sure, but maybe for items quest, it could be enought to only let the item where it can be found the first time (in a normal progression).

Removing the item in later maps where it can be found easily (generally near spawnpoint) could be enought. I need to check the first place where you can found all the powerful items.

Like it should be another map instead of the normal ones?
I can make another dm conversion then...

By the way, Ill send my xmls when the new version supporting them is out :roll:

I like the feeling of the "lost station" for getting the super shotgun, but for others items ... :oops:
