When I leave Lost Station and go back to Comm Center this chick spawns with its leg stuck to my head. And to make matters worse, a second chick does the same all in the space of 5 seconds. This happens immediately on my return to Comm Center. Obviously a bug problem. Needless to say I die every time.

That's a pretty old issue. It happens whenever you return to a map (ie: Comm center --> Lost station --> Comm center).

You may prevent it by returning to the startmap each time you revisit a map (in your case, each time you return to the Comm center (base3) via the elevator)

I'm only going to Lost Station to get the invulnerability. This helps me to get the Rail gun in Installation. (Not that good with Grenade jumps).

Railgun? I can't remember placing one in the Installation.

You should try finding the 2x hyperblaster/2x quad/invulnerability secret in the Installation and the (tons of) power shields & ammo one in the Warehous. (both of them require the additional monsters)

ok wrong use of word "railgun". Should be 2 x Hyperblaster, 2 x quake damage, 1 x Invulnerability.
Queation - How to you return to startmap once you are in Lost Station without using elevator to Comm Center. This is where the chick issues happen soon as the elevator stops in Comm Center.

You have to press the 'O' key which you also use to log-in in the pre-map (wsrv_login).
